HIA Launches the New Look greensmart Magazine
greensmart magazine is back!
A tried and trusted publication which shows consumers how to build smarter and greener homes, greensmart is produced by the Housing Industry Association (HIA) and has been widely acclaimed by both industry and consumers alike.
The magazine supports the HIA GreenSmart philosophy – a lifestyle approach that has changed the way we live and build. It’s a natural approach to building and renovating which looks at not what we build but how we build it.
Now celebrating a new look in its fifth edition, greensmart magazine promotes environmentally sound building practices and products that are accessible, affordable and efficient.
In these days of climate change consumers are more aware of the environment than ever before. As such, they are more aware of the benefits of green housing and this publication provides detailed case studies and ideas that outline how consumers can achieve a ‘greener’ house.
greensmart is a publication for the home renovator and new home buyer builder and provides invaluable advice on reducing household running costs while still maintaining comfort in the home. Purchase greensmart for a special show price from HIA’s Ask an Expert stand at the show. Further Information: Bernie Murphy GreenSmart Operations Manager 02 6245 1356

Stage 3a Water Restrictions
What do the new stage 3a Water Restrictions mean to you?
Taking effect from April 1st, the following water restrictions apply.
- Gardens, manually, using hand-held hoses with trigger nozzles, watering cans and buckets: 6am – 8am
- 70-year-olds and over can water from 8am – 10am
- Even numbered homes: Saturday and Tuesday only
- Odd numbered homes: Sunday and Wednesday only
- Automatic dripper systems: midnight to 2am on authorised days only
The State government introduced Stage 3a in an attempt to avoid Stage 4 restrictions that would ban all outside use of water. Stage 3a will be in force until at least August and is expected to save 2 percent of Melbourne’s water source.
